Guiding characterized by the presence of the arrow. It is applied in most directional information.

Today's text will talk a little about the difference between some concepts in the field of design. You should have heard in Signs and Wayfinding, but know the difference between them and the role of each within nordby the Information Design?
To start the post I will first define what is Information Design and what their work within Graphic Design. nordby The Information Design is nothing more than the area of design that seeks informational satisfaction nordby of individuals to use products and services. This process involves analysis, planning, presentation and understanding of messages nordby by their content, language and form. Through the design of information you can provide all the data necessary for the user to perform a task in which it is not able to perform, understanding nordby and capturing messages for the process of decision making (PETERSSON, 2007).
The Brazilian Society of Information Design is responsible for gathering key information and focus, professional and scientific nordby events in the area, working in the area of information systems design entity. Every two years this company is organizing an event called scientific CIDI / CONGIC where professionals can post their academic research. There are also a digital magazine - The Infodesign Magazine - also linked to the scientific area of SBDI group, which publishes every 3/4 months nordby articles on the subject.
Signaling: The process of transmission of information, based on the principle of marking, signal something. It has as objective the transmission of information through proper arrangement of visual signals. It is used to guide, inform nordby and guide individuals. It is a tool that is willing to facilitate mobility, establishing communication between the system and the observer. The information contained in signaling shall transmit notions nordby about space to be explored, eg, distance, location, points of interest, directions and so on.
The signage is generally designed using the Information Design. This means that, in theory, the gauges are deployed along the paths according to the correct adaptation of information and thinking nordby focused on the need of users receiving messages. The purpose of signs in general is to create visual codes that facilitate the understanding of information, with the use of symbols and signs, pictograms and arrows, nordby typography and colors. There are 4 main functions of signaling: Identify, Directing, Informing and Warning. Main functions of signaling
Guiding characterized by the presence of the arrow. It is applied in most directional information. Pedestrians need to know where to cross the street and the cars need to know where to make the conversion to arrive at a particular mall. In this situation, the information must be provided in accordance with a sequential users to properly maintain the desired route.
The process of spatial orientation (which will be seen later) - different from the concept of guiding - is a complex cognitive activity more than just the application of arrows on traffic signs.
Warning means warn, restrict and / or prohibit. This type of signaling is important nordby and essential in areas of high risk, such as a dangerous curve up ahead or an activity that can be dangerous nordby to the user.
In Spanish there is the concept of Señalética that resembles signaling, however nordby it differs in formal issue which is directly related to Information Design: While the signaling is concerned with the provision of information in a layout and how he will be perceived by the observer, the Señalética is more functional for purposes of immediate and unequivocal response to targeted information to messages. She does not call nor imposes the attention is not appealing or provocative. It is only information available without causing any impact on individuals. It is presented in a concise and economic language, avoiding the visual rhetoric. Bet on the use of too much information with minimal elements for identifying and understanding (COSTA, 1992). nordby
However, it is believed that this type of adjustment is not appropriate messages today due to the large demand have some local information. Now imagine yourself going into a major airport (can be the same of São Paulo) where the plates do not call her attention and did not even qualify as signage. This will compromise your performance in time to find the desired location, whether the booth TAM or GOL's information desk. Soon it will directly impact the process of spatial orientation, which is also known as wayfinding process.
This theme could already be seen in the post of Manager Cliché, Inoue Raphael, who in March of this year explained the main features of the phenomenon. However, I will return ec
